Various Artists — Blue Note Re:imagined [Blue Note Records/DECCA]
Blue Note Re:imagined, a brand new collection of classic Blue Note tracks reworked and newly recorded by a selection of the jazz scene’s most exciting young talents, is out! The full album release comes four months after the album’s first single (Jorja Smith’s fiery version of St Germain’s ‘Rose Rouge’).
The result of a partnership between legendary labels Decca Records and Blue Note, Blue Note Re:imagined features a roll call of internationally acclaimed jazz, soul and R&B acts reimagining music originally created by some of the New York label’s most legendary alumni. Alongside Smith’s reworking of Rose Rouge are Nubya Garcia’s take on Joe Henderson, re-imaginations of Donald Byrd by Jordan Rakei, Ezra Collective’s reworking of Wayne Shorter, and Poppy Ajudha tackling Herbie Hancock.
